           The sci fi technology of movies such as Blade Runner or The Matrix may seem unrealistic now, but the effects on human lives are already happening. Machines can already replace many tasks that humans used to do; these include simple data entry tasks such as

 categorizing an email (AI categorizes an email 10x faster than humans), 

driving cars (Google reports that they've driven more than 2 million miles autonomously),

 diagnosing diseases from radiology images (radiologists perform better when aided by AI) or cooking food from scratch (machines cook more accurately and consistently).

         These sorts of tasks used to be done by secretaries, taxi drivers, radiologists, chefs etc., but no longer - at least in part because of AI.

The Future of Human Work with Artificial Intelligence.

Others believe that robots will take over all jobs within 50 years. It’s unclear how much these predictions are fueled by fear or optimism about the future – but either way there are clear effects on human lives we should consider today.
